December 1 and Trianon

Our colleague and fellow research group member, Csaba Zahorán spent late November and early December in Transylvania, Romania, where he had a chance to observe the December 1 commemorations in conjunction with research he is conducting. (It was on December 1, 1918 that a large popular assembly in Alba Iulia /Gyulafehérvár/, composed of Transylvanian Romanians, declared its intention to achieve unification with Romania, and the anniversary of this assembly has been celebrated as the national day of Romania since 1990.)
